Jennifer Garner Once Named the 1 Beauty Compliment She Always Hears From Her Fans

Jennifer Garner has interacted with more than a few fans over the course of her career. And according to the actor herself, they all agree about this one thing regarding her appearance.

What Jennifer Garner’s fans usually say about her

Garner usually has a good time with her fans. It seems, for the most part, the Alias star doesn’t mind chopping it up with admirers of her work. In an interview with People, she asserted that many of her fans see her as grounded and down to Earth. However, there’s also one other compliment fans are likely to give when they see her.

“They tell me I’m prettier in person than I am on screen,” Garner said. “You might as well see it for the compliment that they mean it to be. That happens, if I’m out and about, every day at some point. I don’t know what it is, but that is by far what I hear the most.”

Garner has been known to maintain her appearance throughout the years. Speaking with Hello Giggles, she revealed the one beauty product she swears by more than anything.

“It would be the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer SPF 100. Because it is so lightweight and sheer,” Garner said. “And I tell my friends, ‘Start your day with it. Don’t waste any time. You have to do it whether it’s overcast like it is today in L.A. or sunny. It’s just gotta be part of your routine.’ I’ll see my friends in hats or trying to stand in the shade, and I think, ‘All of that is great, but you also need to use SPF every day. The sun is too strong.’”

Jennifer Garner has had more than a few beauty regrets

Garner’s fans may feel that the star’s well put together, but she hasn’t always had that opinion about herself. At least when it came to her style in her younger years. Looking back at some of the ways she applied makeup, she wondered what she was thinking at the time.

“If I wore makeup, I would wear my stage makeup on my face like it was normal. I’ll look at that and think, ‘What was that? What was that idea? Where was I going with that?’ It was atrocious,” she said. “I would say wearing stage makeup that did not match my skin tone when I was young and had great skin would be a real beauty regret.”

She also regretted the kind of makeup she wore when she was in college.

“When I was in college, and I’m sure after college, my idea of makeup was what I would wear if I was doing a ballet recital or The Nutcracker,” she said. “It’s really made any picture from college unusable because if I thought I needed to look nice, that’s what I did. I literally opened up my fishing tackle box of theater makeup and just went at it.”

In her older years, however, Garner has opted to apply less makeup. She did this to challenge beauty standards, feeling it was important for stars not be seen as glamorous all the time.

“I want to look normal and I want to normalize looking normal. I always have felt really strongly about that,” Garner once told Today. “We can almost all wear less [makeup] than we think.”

“I don’t want my kids or people to only see the actor version of me that is perfectly made up by brilliant artists and think that’s how I look,” she added. “And then if I’m dressed up, I like that my kids are like, ‘Woo, look at my mom!’”
