This Waterford father and son have started a succession partnership, working together for the future of their farm. At 62, Eamon McCarthy is preparing to pass on his farm to his son. Over the next nine years, 80pc of his family farm in Youghal, Co Waterford will be run by Donnchadh (30).
Over the years, the 130ac farm has had milking cows, drystock and tillage. When Eamon took over from his father in 1995, he moved it altogether to sucklers. Today they have a herd of around 50 that Donnchadh is keen to grow.
