The Best Movies And TV Shows Leaving Prime Video October 2024

Kill the Irishman (2011)

Following his tragic passing in 2023, Prime Video will be losing one of the best Ray Stevenson movies of his career. Kill the Irishman gives Stevenson a wonderful leading man role in a wild crime story that is made all the more entertaining because it is based on a true story. The movie chronicles the life of Irish-American gangster Danny Greene who rose through the ranks of organized crime in Clevland and went to war with the mafia which led to multiple unsuccessful attempts on Greene’s life.

Stevenson delivers his best performance, infusing the criminal character with charisma, humor, and an underdog quality that makes him a fun character to root for despite his flaws. While Stevenson certainly carries the movie, he is joined by an incredible supporting cast that includes Christopher Walken, Val Kilmer, and Vincent D’Onofrio. It is a hugely entertaining and underrated crime movie that leaves Prime Video on October 1.

You’re Next (2011)

While October is the month when viewers are looking for great horror movies to put them in the Halloween spirit, Prime Video will be losing one of the best horror movies of the 2010s on October 1. You’re Next is an intense and bloody home invasion movie that is also clever and filled with some amazing twists of the genre tropes. It follows a wealthy family who gathers in their secluded getaway home when they are suddenly descended on by a gang of masked killers.

While the premise sounds like a fairly typical setup for a movie of this kind, the surprising fun comes from Erin (Sharni Vinson) as the new girlfriend invited to the family dinner who proves to be a lot more capable in moments of danger than she appears. Erin makes for one of the best horror movie final girls and gives the movie an extra burst of energy.

Zack And Miri Make A Porno (2008)

Kevin Smith is mostly known for his Jay and Silent Bob movies, but the filmmaker stepped away from his iconic characters to make Zack and Miri Make a Porno. Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks make for a terrific comedic duo in the titular roles as a pair of best friends in desperate need of money who decide to become amateur filmmakers of adult movies with the help of a ragtag group of friends. However, the intense work also causes Zack and Miri to confront their own feelings for each other.

Smith brings his typical vulgar humor to the movie, embracing the R-rated comedy trend that was on the rise in the 2000s. However, the movie also has a lot of heart that makes the premise not just an excuse to tell dirty jokes. It remains one of the funnier and better movies Smith has made in the past 20 years, but it will be removed from Prime Video on October 1.

Billions (2016)

While Billions has never been the biggest series on television, the show remained acclaimed and popular among audiences for 7 seasons. Unfortunately, five of those seasons of Billions will be removed from Prime Video on October 2. The series stars Paul Giamatti as U.S. Attorney of New York Chuck Roades, who sets his sights on the famous hedge fund manager and philanthropist Bobby “Axe” Axelrod (Damian Lewis). The two then turn New York City into a battleground as the two titans face off.

While many fans were hoping for the possibility of Billions season 8, the show came to an end in 2023. However, the seven seasons of the series still make for an intense, thrilling, and smart drama series with fascinating characters and a great sense of humor. It will be a big show to lose on Prime Video as Billions makes for a fun rewatch even though it ended not too long ago.

Mr. Robot (2015)

Another acclaimed and popular show will be removed from Prime Video this month, with Mr. Robot leaving the platform on October 5. The thriller series served as the breakout role for Rami Malek, who starred in Mr. Robot as Elliot, a cybersecurity engineer struggling with a personality disorder and mental health issues. He also moonlights as a vigilante hacker, with his skills eventually getting noticed and recruited to be part of a group looking to make a difference in the world through some extreme measures.

Malek carries the series with his incredible performance in this very complex and difficult role. As the show gets more complex with its many twists and turns, Elliot grounds it all as a real character the audience feels for. While Mr. Robot makes for a fun show to return to and binge-watch, Prime Video users will no longer have that option as all four seasons of the show will be gone.
