Bar of Ireland inquiring into incident involving relatives of barrister Simeon Burke at Ploughing Championships

Simeon Burke says he has not been able to find an experienced barrister to act as his mentor

The representative body for barristers is making inquiries into an “incident” in which relatives of lawyer Simeon Burke loudly questioned its representatives at the National Ploughing Championships.

Mr Burke, a recently qualified barrister, claimed earlier this week he faced being “shut out” of the profession as he has been unable to find a mentor for a one-year unpaid apprenticeship, known as devilling, that he is required to undertake.
