Below Deck Med Star Shockingly Hints At Possible Return To Bravo Franchise

Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 may have just ended, but Chef Johnathan “Jono” Shillingford is already teasing he might be returning to the Below Deck franchise, despite getting caught up in multiple controversies. Early on during Below Deck Med season 9, he came under fire for his poor skills in the galley. Johnathan was even accused of faking his terrible performance for ratings. Other cast members faced similar accusations, including Iain Maclean. However, it got so bad for Johnathan that he served a dish that could have caused a fatal reaction, and Captain Sandy Yawn almost fired him.

‘s Johnathan Shillingford insinuated he will be back on below Deck in the future.

The day after the Below Deck Med season 9 finale aired, Johnathan took to Instagram to look back on the drama-filled season while also teasing his possible return. At the end of a very long caption, he said, “You haven’t seen the last of me – trust.” Unless he was teasing some other project, the comment seemed to insinuate that Johnathan will be back on Below Deck, though it’s not known if it would be Below Deck Med or one of the other spin-offs.

Johnathan’s Instagram post included a video that showed highlights of his time with various Below Deck Med season 9 cast members, including them dancing, hanging out together, and sightseeing, set to the song “The Sun Is Shining” by Stefy De Cicco, 1 World and Bob Marley. In his very extensive caption to the post, Johnathan thanked his co-stars and crew for the “wildest adventure” of his career. He revealed he made life-long friends along the way, and even admitted that “there’s always room to grow.”

And that’s a wrap folks. To my fellow cast members, the entire crew and everyone at Bravo – thank you for the wildest adventure of my career yet. I feel like I’ve made life-long yachtie friends in each of the crew! What a dream team! We did it guys! Hats off to us! This season has taught me that no matter how good you are there’s always room to grow! Diamonds form under immense pressure, so stick with it and you always end up on top, shining bright!

To my friends and family all over the world who watched and supported me – WAW. I love you? So so much. Thank you thank you thank you. To my new supporters who cheered me on throughout the show – obsessed with you. You haven’t seen the last of me – trust.

What Chef Johnathan’s Update Means For Below Deck Franchise

Chef Jono Created A Lot Of Drama On Below Deck Med

Johnathan’s time on Below Deck Med has definitely been wild, as he mentioned in his Instagram caption. Unfortunately, a lot of that drama occurred because of his own behavior and performance in the galley. If he hadn’t messed up so many times while cooking meals for the charter guests, then his adventure would not have been nearly as wild and scandalous.

That drama is what makes for captivating reality TV and creates a lot of discussions on social media. Only time will tell if Bravo decides to hire him again. If he does return, whether on Below Deck Med or a different spin-off, then fans will be able to see the comparison of his skills from season to season, and make a determination over whether he’s improved or if this is just the way he performs in the galley.

It wouldn’t be surprising if Bravo kept Johnathan around. He’s already proven he can bring a lot of drama to the small screen. There was a lot of backlash to his Below Deck Med behavior, so that would likely flare up again if he came back. Considering how many headaches he created for Captain Sandy, there’s a chance she wouldn’t want to star alongside him again. Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 is about to premiere, and Johnathan’s not a part of the cast, so Below Deck Med is the likeliest option, whether fans want it to happen or not.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht
season 5 premieres October 7 at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
