HERSHEY — A year after falling short in the state finals, the Blackhawk girls returned to Giant Center and led from start to finish Saturday afternoon to defeat Scranton Prep, 56-44, in the PIAA Class 4A championship game.

Aubree Hupp scored a game-high 21 points, and Alena Fusetti had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds for Blackhawk (27-3), which won its fifth title overall and third since 2014. The Cougars sprinted to an 8-0 lead, led by 15 points in the third quarter and held the ball in the fourth to protect their lead.

The team changed head coaches since last season, hiring Blackhawk grad Greg Huston, who won a state title as a player in 1999. This was his first state title as a coach.

Jenna Hillebrand led District 2 champion Scranton Prep (23-6) with 16 points.
