Golfer Rory McIlory has been videoed being comforted by his young daughter and wife following his play-off loss at the BMW Championship at Wentworth on Sunday.
The Co Down man suffered a defeat against American Billy Horschel in a three-man play-off. It continues a losing streak for the golfer who also beaten by a shot by Rasmus Hojgaard at the Irish Open last week.
His loss on Sunday means McIlroy hasn’t won a major tournament since winning his four career titles between 2011 and 2014, despite coming close on multiple occasions.

Following his defeat, he was videoed being comforted by his family. In a video uploaded by DP World Tour’s X account, McIlory is seen being comforted by four-year old Poppy in his arms, as well as kissing wife Erica Stoll.
His interaction with his wife marks one of the first times the pair have been seen embracing in public after they called off divorce proceedings at the last minute earlier this year.
In May, McIlory dramatically filed for divorce from his wife of seven years, with Ms Stoll reportedly being served divorce papers at their home in Florida.
However, weeks later the couple who were married in April 2017 at Ashford Castle in Cong, County Mayo, confirmed they had reconciled.
The post from DP World Tour’ socials saw an outpouring amount of support for the golfer, with one fan writing under it: “Wow she sooo looks like her dad. Unlucky Rory great viewing …shame someone has to be second. Next time bud….next time” while another wrote; “That, my friends, is the purpose and fulfillment of life,” referencing his family in the video.
