Bojan Bogdanović Shades Nets During His Knicks Introductory Press Conference

It wasn’t anything overwhelming, but new New York Knicks forward Bojan Bogdanovic’s stint with the Brooklyn Nets would seemingly qualify as a success.

In three seasons with the team, Bogdanovic averaged 11.2 points per game and laid the foundation for a lengthy career as an NBA starter. In fact, Bogdanović played more games with the Nets than he has with any other franchise—including the Utah Jazz, with which he spent three years as an 18-point-per-game scorer.

Brooklyn fans, then, may have been taken aback by Bogdanović’s ever-so-slight shade during his introductory press conference on Saturday, a few days after the Detroit Pistons traded him to the Knicks.

“I played with the Nets, but all my friends are New Yorkers and they’re all Knicks fans,” Bogdanović said. “So it’s gonna be even better for them as well, to see me in a Knicks jersey.”

Bogdanović, a Croatian international, cited New York’s large Croatian community as a plus of playing in the Big Apple.

The Pistons traded Bogdanović to New York on Thursday along with guard Alec Burks. The Knicks are currently 33–19, fourth in the Eastern Conference and seven games behind the first-place Boston Celtics.
