Charles Tyrwhitt Opening Store in New York’s Grand Central Terminal

Charles Tyrwhitt is targeting commuters with its latest store in New York’s Grand Central Terminal.

The 2,280-square-foot store is located at 89 East 42nd Street in the Vanderbilt entrance in a space that once housed a Vineyard Vines store. Charles Tyrwhitt opens Monday and its design is intended to reflect the brand’s British heritage with two London telephone booths, neon signs that read: “Get Shirty,” and a wall of neckties. The unit’s design is inspired by its new London flagship on Regent Street.

Much of the store is devoted to the company’s shirts, which are offered in a wide array of fits, colors and collar options. The shirts are complemented by formal and casual suits, knitwear, footwear and accessories.

Charles Tyrwhitt boasts that it sells one white button-down shirt every 50 seconds with 7 million shirts sold in 2023. Its goal is to reach 7.5 million shirts this year.

This is the company’s 12th U.S. store, joining other locations in New Jersey, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Chicago and Houston. There are also four other Charles Tyrwhitt stores in New York City, three in Midtown and one in TriBeCa. It also operates 34 stores in the U.K.

“The Grand Central store is a great addition to our U.S. retail portfolio, offering an iconic and convenient location for our customer to shop for his modern working wardrobe, whether they live in New York or just passing through,” said Sam Stanley, vice president of Charles Tyrwhitt North America. “Our stylists at each store location are trained to help every man find his tailored fit and stock up on timeless, seasonal items to help him feel and look his best.”
