Chris Hemsworth’s Thor Fights Thunderbolts*’s Sentry In Dark Thor 5 Art

Chris Hemsworth’s Thor Fights Thunderbolts*’s Sentry In Dark Thor 5 Art

Exciting Thor 5 fan art imagines the perfect darker story for Thor’s next Marvel Cinematic Universe solo movie. Chris Hemsworth holds the record for most solo films in the MCU, with four Thor movies. The character’s latest appearance, Thor: Love and Thunder, was divisive. The movie went even deeper into director Taika Waititi’s comedic elements, and that ended up interfering with the more somber and emotional plots involving Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster and Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher. Fans are now asking for Thor 5‘s story to be more serious, and new MCU art shows how that could happen.

On Instagram, artist @soloauthorityimagined Thor 5 as an adaptation of Marvel Comics’ Siege event, with Thor fighting Sentry in the MCU.

The fan art depicts Sentry’s dark side, the Void. While Sentry has not yet debuted in the franchise, the character is all but confirmed to appear next year as part of the cast of Marvel’s Thunderbolts*. Lewis Pullman’s Bob should be revealed to be Robert Reynolds, aka Sentry, in the movie. The first Thunderbolts* trailer teased as much, with bullets bouncing off Bob offscreen and a peek at Sentry’s signature belt.

What Sentry’s MCU Debut Could Mean For Thor 5

Marvel Comics’ Siege Comes Closer To Becoming Real

While Disney+’s Secret Invasion was not the best it could have been, the series’ ending opened the door for a possible adaptation of Marvel Comics’ Siege. At the end of the show, the President of the United States declares war on all aliens on Earth, with rogue extermination groups being shown to hunt down Skrulls after the announcement. Given how Asgardians are now living on Earth in the colony of New Asgard, that could lead to them being persecuted. In the comics, Siege featured Norman Osborn and many others attacking Asgard, which was then located in the US.

Thor 5 has yet to be officially announced by Marvel Studios, but in an interview with Chris Hemsworth,

Vanity Fair

noted how the actor feels he owes the audience another film due to Thor: Love and Thunder’s issues.

While Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin was sent back to his universe, Secret Invasion set up a different kind of Siege event in the MCU, with other groups possibly attacking New Asgard. Sentry’s connection to Thunderbolts* makes Siege an even more likely plot for Thor 5. In the comics, Sentry is the first character to attack Asgard in the event, being Osborn’s greatest weapon. In the MCU, Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who assembles the Thunderbolts, could replace Osborn and be the one to control Sentry, leading to a recreation of Siege in Thor 5.

Our Take On Sentry Possibly Appearing In Thor 5

Thor Would Face A Huge Challenge

I think a version of Siege in Thor 5 is the perfect way to bring Thor back to a more serious tone without making the film dull, like what happened with Thor: The Dark World. Based on the timing of his MCU debut and the fact that Valentina’s role with the Thunderbolts could replace Norman Osborn and the Dark Avengers from the comics, the Sentry could find his way against Thor. Sentry’s dark side, the Void, could lead to the death of everyone in Asgard — he killed millions in the comics — making him a frightening villain for Thor 5.
