Such is the closed-shop nature of professional rugby nowadays, you very rarely get a peek behind the curtain to get a truer sense of how things operate away from the 80 minutes that we get to see on the pitch every weekend.
Open training sessions provide one of the very few opportunities to get that kind of insight, and although you are never likely to come away from one having learned any state secrets, they do tend to give a flavour of who calls the shots, and how they go about it.
