The removal of the four-point goal from the Football Review Committee’s (FRC) wish list only serves to highlight the folly of suspending the pre-season competitions in this time of flux.
That decision regarding the various cups and leagues was reaffirmed at the weekend when, despite a number of motions calling for their reinstatement and majority support, the vote fell short of the 60pc required to overturn the original decision just seven weeks earlier.
