We’ve only been on the phone for a minute or two when Dave Kearney drops the news that he’s retired from rugby after a year playing in the United States with the Chicago Hounds.
The former Ireland international (35) knows he should make an announcement, but he’s already been through this once before when confirming his departure from Leinster and hadn’t quite figured out the way of doing it. So, when we came calling, looking to chat about life in the US, it was a chance to kill two birds with one stone.
