Dodgers exercise option to bring Austin Barnes back in 2025 – Daily News

LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers will bring Austin Barnes back for another season as their backup catcher.

Barnes signed a two-year contract extension in July 2022 that paid him $3.5 million in 2023 and 2024. It contained a club option for another season at $3.5 million, which the Dodgers will exercise.

The 34-year-old Barnes will be playing his 11th season with the Dodgers. Among current players, only Clayton Kershaw has been with the team longer.

Barnes hit .264 with one home run and 11 RBIs in 54 games in 2024.

Two more contract options will be decided by Monday. Kershaw has a player option and the Dodgers hold a club option on Miguel Rojas.
