Dog Man Is Getting A Video Game Just In Time For The Holiday Season

Everyone’s favorite part dog, part man, and superhero Dog Man is getting their first video game. The title will bring beloved characters from Dav Pilkey’s Dog Man book series to life in a never-before-seen way, allowing fans to see the world of Dog Man from a whole new perspective. The family-friendly hero is hitting consoles right in time for the holiday season.




Dog Man: Mission Impawsible is a “Supa Epic Adventure” launching on consoles on December 6. Players will join Dog Man and his friends on an adventure of a lifetime, hot on the heels of a dastardly thief who stole the key to the city. The adventure will have Dog Man and his friends taking down bad guys through 50 levels across five worlds, featuring iconic locations from the Dog Man franchise, such as the City Hall, Giant Marshmallow Factory, and the Police Station.

Dog Man: Mission Impaswible will be available December 6 on the PlayStation 5 and 4, Xbox Series X/S, PC (via Steam), and the Switch. A free playable demo will be available via Steam Next Fest between October 14 and 21, with a demo arriving on other platforms shortly after.

Dog Man: Mission Impawsible will have all the original book series’ signature humor, action, and charm. The game reimagines the world of the book series as a side-scrolling, platforming adventure past recognizable locations and baddies. Players will navigate the world and solve puzzles and challenges along the way. It even incorporates an element of Metroidvania, allowing players to return to locations they’ve already been in to discover secrets thanks to new gadgets and powers.

The platformer also lets players switch between characters, each with their own special abilities. Dog Man can dig underground and glide through the air, Lil’ Petey can hack into gadgets and fit in small spaces, and 80-HD can push heavy things and jump across large distances. Players must figure out how to utilize each character’s abilities to their advantage in order to progress through levels and defeat formidable bosses.

Additional gadgets can be found throughout the game to assist players on their adventure, including a grappling hook, rocket books, and power gloves. T here will also be collectibles to encourage and reward exploration.

Dog Man: Mission Impawsible was developed by Floor 84 Studio and Mindscape, two companies who have worked with large names like Disney, Mattel, and Warner Bros. The developers are no strangers to family-oriented content, so families know they’ll be getting a game that’s approachable at any age.

Despite his youthful appearance, Dog Man is a robust eight years old now, since the first book in the series was published in 2016. A whole generation grew up on the fun character’s antics and shenanigans, and the character has earned a special place in parents’ hearts, too. A December release makes this a perfect holiday gaming gift for any kid (or their adult) who loves the heroic dog character.

It’s never been a better time to be a Dog Man fan. The December launch of Dog Man: Mission Impawsible aligns with the launch of the Dog Man movie, coming January 31 from DreamWorks Animation.
