Every Automaton In Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom follows last year’s Tears of the Kingdom with a return to the retro-modern aesthetic first employed in 2019’s Link’s Awakening. For the first time in the main series, Princess Zelda herself is the main character. Embarking upon a quest to save Link and the realm of Hyrule with the help of the magical Tri Rod, Zelda must solve a variety of puzzles, remove mysterious rifts spreading through the region, and battle enemies while creating “echoes” that can imitate the environment around her.




Besides collecting echoes in Echoes of Wisdom, Zelda can also call upon the aid of automatons crafted for her by the gravedigger Dampé. These robots are skilled at destroying enemy swarms, and with six available in the world of Hyrule, provide added variety to the game’s already diverse combat system. All possess unique skills which allow players to employ new and effective fighting strategies during their time unraveling the mysteries of Hyrule.


6 The Techtite Automaton

A High Jumper With A Lethal Streak

The first automaton available in-game, the Techtite can be assembled if players provide Dampé with two unique echoes — that of a Tektite, the series’ infamous one-eyed arachnid monsters, and that of a Mothula, the giant moth-like enemy often encountered within Hyrule.


Tektites can be found in the western region of Hyrule Field and a Mothula in the Gerudo Sanctum dungeon to aid players in the creation of this robot. The automaton’s battle strategy revolves around jumping into the sky and blasting away your enemies within a sizeable radius around where the Techtite leapt.

5 The Tocktorok Automaton

An Explosive Battle Buddy


Available upon beginning the second of Dampé’s quests, the Tocktorok automaton can be assembled if players provide the robotics engineer with two echoes — an Octorok Echo and a Firework Echo, the latter of which can only be obtained through the Goron City sidequest “The Fireworks Artist”.

Upon completion, the Tocktorok automaton can, much like the Octorok spits rocks, rapidly shoot fireworks at enemies.

Upon clearing the Eldin Volcano rift, players can arrive to the Tocktorok quest area and find Octoroks to collect in the Suthorn Prairie. Upon completion, the Tocktorok automaton can, much like the Octorok spits rocks, rapidly shoot fireworks at enemies.

4 The Gizmol Automaton

A Bubbly Assassin


The third available automaton from Dampé’s workshop requires the combination of a Zol Echo (taken from the notorious big-eyed blob enemies) and the Prismatic Music Box. Zols, much like Octoroks, can be found in the Suthorn Forest, while the Prismatic Music Box can be retrieved from Hyrule Ranch upon completing a set of flag races.

Upon completion of the automaton, the Gizmol can be deployed to fight enemies by unleashing a barrage of music bubbles.

3 The High-Teku Baba Automaton

The Stationary Devourer

The fourth available automaton Dampé will construct for Zelda is the High-Teku Baba. As its name suggests, it requires a Level 2 Deku Baba Echo and a Steel Trap to be constructed.

The Level 2 Deku Baba can be collected by Zelda in the Faron Wetlands.


The Steel Trap is found in Hyrule Field, where it can be obtained by collecting enough acorns within the given time limit for a man by the trees northwest of Kakariko Village. Upon construction of the automaton, the High-Teku Baba will devour enemies within its range but cannot be moved once placed down by Zelda.

2 The Robbolin Automaton

An Automaton Skilled With Blades

The fifth available automaton Dampé can construct for Zelda is the Robbolin. This automaton requires the collection of any sword moblin (which can be found almost everywhere in Hyrule) and the retrieval of the Heirloom Katana from Kakariko Village.


By completing the Slumber Dojo training in Kakariko up to the Moblin’s Revenge training stage, the dojo master will provide Zelda with the heirloom blade. Upon completion of the automaton, the Robbolin will use a special triangle-shaped strike with its blade to attack multiple enemies at once.

1 The Goldfinch Automaton

A Rupee-Rewarding Robot

The final automaton available in Echoes of Wisdom is the Goldfinch, which can only be made after Zelda arranges for Dampé to construct the previous five. To complete the Goldfinch, Dampé requires both a Crow Echo and the Golden Fan.


Crows can be found atop trees north of Lake Hylia in Hyrule Field and in the eastern entrance of the Gerudo Desert, while the Golden Fan can be obtained by Zelda completing the standard and vibrant seed Mango Rush levels in the oasis. Upon completion of the Goldfinch, the automaton will function much like a crow, giving Zelda the ability to glide and knocking rupees from enemies. As an added benefit, the Goldfinch will provide players with blue and red rupees much more frequently.

The automatons in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom provide players with six more unique ways to handle combat within the world of Hyrule. From sword-wielding robots to firework-firing mechas, the various automatons Dampé constructs for Zelda throughout the game are fun companions that both offer an easier way to deal with enemy hordes and a creative addition to Hyrule’s sprawling lore.
