Anthony Davis ended up bleeding during the Los Angeles Lakers game against the Memphis Grizzlies after taking a brutal hit from David Roddy.
Davis had to check out of the game and go to the locker room for treatment. Thankfully, he just suffered a laceration and is back in the game wearing noseplugs.
Fans get worried every time AD has any semblance of an injury and reacted to the hit and how Davis checked back in to finish the first half.
The Grizzlies’ rough play on AD was mocked by a fan, “Anthony Davis trying to get a rebound: The Grizzlies.”
One fan reacted to AD having nose plugs, “Can Anthony Davis breathe?”
A fan used stats to illustrate AD’s impact on the game, “Anthony Davis got hurt. The Lakers led: 34-31. Grizz took the lead 49-43. AD returns at 2:37, Lakers took the lead 56-55 with 27 seconds left. MVP impact.”
An AD stan hoped he plays the next game like masked LeBron, “Please Anthony Davis, return with a mask. We need this version folks.”
A Lakers account remarked at the blood loss, “Anthony Davis after taking a shot to the face.”
Davis received praise for returning to the game after taking the hit, “And kids this is the day Anthony Davis remained in the game…”
Anthony Davis scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the first half, continuing his streak of good performances in the absence of LeBron James. A win over the heavily depleted Memphis Grizzlies is crucial for the Lakers, as they trail 57-56 at the half.
Anthony Davis Playing Through Injury
A win tonight means the Lakers are officially a play-in team, earning the 9th seed from the New Orleans Pelicans. They would also just trail the Clippers in the 8th seed by 1.5 games, making their late-season push to the 6th seed a reality. With the brevity of games left on the schedule, the Lakers cannot afford any losses.
The Lakers intended on earning the 6th seed by the end of the season and that dream could be a reality if they win tonight. They’ll be 2 games behind the Warriors if they pick up a win tonight. With LeBron still expected to be out for a while, any misstep by the Lakers could cost them strong postseason positioning.
