Thirteen months after finding out the Seanad leader she appointed had sent inappropriate messages to a teenager, Mary Lou McDonald finally apologised to the victim.
Ten months after she praised Niall Ó Donnghaile, giving a glowing reference to the senator who was secretly resigning in disgrace, the Sinn Féin leader acknowledged the hurt caused.
