How this family suckler farm in the Burren branched into dairy and eggs

Carina Roseingrave and her brother Gerry reckon ‘you are going nowhere if you have all your eggs in one basket’ so they have diversified their 350ac Clare farm in a number of ways – moving a 4,500-capacity hen shed from Monaghan – but they insist their ‘hearts are in sucklers’

Sister and brother duo Carina and Gerry Roseingrave have embraced diversification on their multi-faceted 350ac farm in the foothills of the Burren in Crusheen, Co Clare.

Burren View Farm used to have just commercial sucklers, but alongside 50 breeding females, it is now home to 100 dairy cows, a new pedigree Charolais and Limousin herd and a free-range egg business.
