Olivia Rodrigo’s world tour for GUTS is the second of her career, but that didn’t mean she was not “terrified” before taking the stage at Acrisure Arena in Palm Springs, Calif., in February 2024.

When PEOPLE caught up with the “Get Him Back!” singer, 21, at the nya EAST red carpet premiere of Netflix’s Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour on Friday, Oct. 25, she recalled being “terrified” and thinking she should’ve practiced more that night.

“I was like, ‘I should have rehearsed more… like I needed three more weeks to rehearse this thing,’ “ she exclusively tells PEOPLE.  “But I was like, ‘Oh well, I’m gonna go on.’ “

After the show, Rodrigo had “such a beautiful moment” with her parents and friends off-stage.

“I remember coming off stage and my mom, my dad, and all my friends were there to support me and just cheering,” Rodrigo says. “We popped champagne. And it was such a beautiful moment. I’ll remember it forever.”

Rodrigo adds that her hands were shaking due to nerves when she played the piano during early shows in the tour. “I was so scared that I was going to mess up,” she tells PEOPLE. “And in the last ones, I feel like could really, like, sit into it and just enjoy myself.”

And to the fans who cheered, screamed, and danced with me, I am so glad we get to do it all over again!”

The GUTS World Tour kicked off in Palm Springs on Feb. 23, with Chappell Roan as Rodrigo’s opening act. The Breeders, Remi Wolf, PinkPantheress and Benee also performed on the tour.
