It’s 11am on a warm October morning, which is a good thing because John McColgan had planned to rearrange our interview if the rain threatened to spoil our view — and what a view it is.

McColgan and his wife Moya Doherty share Glenlion Cliffs, a stunningly luxurious cottage on Howth Head, Co Dublin.
