Marks & Spencer’s autumn collection is absolutely stellar this year, as evident by the fact that items are selling out super fast. Featuring cosy knitwear, on-trend coats, quilted handbags, and stylish boots, there’s a wide variety of reasonably priced pieces for your wardrobe. However, a week ago, I stumbled across my best find yet after scrolling through the new-in section.
This Jersey Textured Midaxi Relaxed Skater Dress looked like everything I could want from a staple midi dress I can wear all year round. I could picture myself wearing it with knee-high boots and my trench coat, trainers and a raincoat, or even sandals in the summer.
I added the black version to my basket, and when it landed on my doorstep, I knew I was right. In the past week alone, I’ve worn it three times (and washed it in between of course) and am feeling pretty pleased with my bargain £29.50 purchase. Here’s why I love it and why you should snap it up ASAP.

You cannot go wrong with a black midi dress. They’ll serve you well throughout almost any occasion and this style is perfection. The dress also comes in a chic cream hue and statement green if you prefer more colour.

It has an A-line shape that skims over lumps and bumps, plus it features a flattering flared skater silhouette and trumpet-style sleeves. It also comes complete with subtle ruffled details around the neckline and across the waist, which I think makes it more interesting than a boring black dress.
It’s made from a stretchy and textured jersey fabric that holds its shape surprisingly well and doesn’t cling to areas I’m more conscious of, like my stomach and arms, which can often happen with this material. I’m a size 12, and the dress is true to size, available in regular, petite, and long lengths, so you can choose the right length for you. I bought the regular length and am 5 ft 5.
So far, I’ve worn it with trainers and a crossbody bag to a roast dinner with friends, and with a pair of leather knee-high black boots for a day of meetings and events at work. It pairs well with every type of bag in my wardrobe, from tote bags to clutches, and is appropriate for every occasion, perhaps with the exception of a wedding.

While I can’t praise the dress enough for its value for money, quality, and fit, the only downside is how hard it can be to get your hands on. Despite being new to the M&S website, it has already sold out in multiple sizes.
