Kim Ye-Ji, viral Korean sharpshooter, to star as assassin in upcoming series

After her stone-cold expression went viral at the Paris Olympics, sharpshooter Kim Ye-Ji will play the role of an actual assassin in an upcoming Korean series.

Kim, 31, has been pegged by Korean entertainment company Asia Lab to star in a new multinational short-form series called “Crush.” Alongside Indian actor Anushka Sen, Kim will play an assassin in the story, a spinoff of the star-studded “Asia.”

Kim became a breakout star in Paris after taking home silver for South Korea in the 10-meter air pistol women’s event. Fans online swooned over her effortless style and attitude.

“Crush” is an action series that will follow characters from all over the Asian continent, Lee JungSub, writer and director of “Crush,” told NBC News.

“Kim Ye-ji’s casting as a global Korean assassin was a natural choice given her precision and performance at the Olympics — particularly her shooting skills,” he said. “The moment I saw that, I was convinced we had to cast her as the killer — it brings unparalleled credibility to the character.”

A 15-second teaser clip shows Kim walking up to a gun-toting Sen and adjusting her stance and aim.

For fans, who compared Kim’s shooting skills and icy confidence in Paris to that of James Bond, this was a natural next step.

“I don’t feel any pressure at all,” she told reporters at a pre-Olympic competition, where she broke records. “My confidence comes from a reason. It’s confidence based on a foundation.”
