A footballer who broke an opponent’s jaw during an under-16 match has avoided a conviction when his case was finalised.

At the end of a hearing last May, Judge Stephanie Coggans said that a custodial sentence was not appropriate after finding the facts proven against Adam Flynn (19), Castle Court, Castlebellingham, who had contested a charge of assault causing harm.
