Man (20s) who led Westmeath gardaí on high speed chase took to fields after car’s diesel tank burst

A tyre fitter has admitted leading gardaí on a high speed chase across a midlands town before taking to fields after abandoning the car when its diesel tank burst going over a humped back bridge.

Twenty-one-year-old Luke Maloney, of 18 Corran, Esker Riada, Ballinasloe, Galway was charged with nine separate counts of dangerous driving while also being uninsured at the wheel following an incident at various locations in Mullingar, Co Westmeath on April 27, 2024.
