A man, aged in his 50s, was arrested
Gardaí have arrested a man following a seizure of drugs worth over €2.5m at Rosslare port in Co Wexford.
The seizure took place earlier today when around 36kgs of cocaine was seized by Revenue Officers, following the search of a truck which had come from a ferry.
A man, aged in his 50s, was arrested and is being questioned under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, at a garda station in Co Wexford.
Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
“The illicit drugs were discovered as a result of risk profiling, when a freight unit that had disembarked a ferry from Dunkirk, France was stopped and searched,” a Revenue spokesperson said.
“This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295.”
