Another person has been arrested in connection with alleged harassment at the Taoiseach’s home in May.

Several people have already been arrested and released in relation to a protest in which masked individuals appeared outside Simon Harris’s family home in Co Wicklow.

Gardaí said they had arrested a further individual on Tuesday for alleged offences contrary to the Non-Fatal Offences against the Person Act, as part of ongoing investigations into the alleged harassment of an elected representative on May 2.

The man, aged in his 30s, who was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda Station in Co Wicklow has since been released without charge. A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

In August a woman in her 60s was the latest to be arrested in relation to the incident. She was later released, with a file also sent to the DPP.

Protesters gathered outside the home as Mr Harris’s children were preparing for bed.

The incident came days after Mr Harris had criticised protests outside politicians’ homes as “downright thuggery”.

Mr Harris lives with his wife and two small children in a housing estate in the Co Wicklow town.

More than a dozen people were part of a group who gathered at his home, holding banners with slogans including “close the borders”, “house the Irish first” and “Éire will no longer run by EU puppets”.
