Free hormone replacement therapy (HRT) announced in Budget 2025 is obviously good news, because for some women the medicine is crucial. But I just hope making it cost-free for all does not add to what I feel is a growing assumption that HRT is something a woman automatically needs to best manage the menopause.
While the “meno-influencers” were whooping up the news and warning about supply issues, I did not see any caveats in my social media feeds to make clear that not every woman needs it. HRT is far from a magic pill.
