Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rain warning for Donegal today, with widespread rain and spot flooding also possible in other counties.
The warning is in place from 2pm today until 10pm tonight.
It will turn cloudier today as outbreaks of rain in the west become more widespread through the morning and afternoon.
They will be heaviest in the west and northwest with spot flooding in places.
The rain will become lighter and patchier from most places in the evening. Highest afternoon temperatures of 8 to 13 degrees today and between 10 to 13 degrees overnight.
It will be mostly cloudy tomorrow with outbreaks of rain continuing to ease and become patchier through the morning.
There will be a good deal of dry weather in the afternoon and evening along with some brighter spells, with highs of 13 to 16 dropping to 6 to 11 overnight.
On Tuesday, foggy patches will clear through the morning to leave a largely dry day with just some patchy rain and drizzle at times.
Some sunny spells will develop, especially for eastern parts later.
Wednesday will see plenty of cloud with perhaps more in the way of some sunny spells developing. Staying mostly dry with just a few spots of light rain or drizzle.
Thursday will be predominately dry and cloudy though there will be further patches of light rain and drizzle with the chance of more persistent rain in the north.
There is some uncertainty in the details on Friday but indications are that it will be another mostly cloudy day with some patchy rain and drizzle at times.
“High pressure likely becoming more established with largely dry and settled conditions. Turning slightly cooler but brighter,” Met Éireann said of next week.
