Monday Night Football live updates: Bills host Jaguars, Bengals take on Commanders in Week 3 double dip

For the first of four times this season, there will be two Monday Night Football games. In the first kickoff, the 2-0 Buffalo Bills take on the 0-2 Jacksonville Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN, and in the second game, the 1-1 Washington Commanders head to Cincinnati to take on the 0-2 Bengals at 8:15 p.m. ET on ABC.

The Bills are one of the highest-scoring teams in the league through two weeks, hanging 34 points on the scoreboard in Week 1 and 31 in Week 2, and Josh Allen has been the maestro for Buffalo’s attack, completing nearly 74% of his passes without throwing an interception. Trevor Lawrence hasn’t been as sharp to start the season for Jacksonville, completing just 51% of his throws through two weeks.

In Cincinnati, the Bengals are no strangers to slow starts — they’ve started 0-2 for the fifth time in the past six seasons — and Joe Burrow will be tasked with another turnaround after losing a nail-biter in Kansas City last week. Washington, meanwhile, got its first win of the Jayden Daniels era in Week 2 over the New York Giants.

Week 4, Week 7 and Week 15 will also have two Monday Night Football games.

  • Commanders pick it right back up

Austin Ekeler just ran back the opening kick back 62 yards to put the Commanders in incredible field position to start the second half.

  • Jaguars hold Bills to a field goal

A small victory for the Jaguars’ defense?

Jacksonville still can’t do much to stop the Bills. But a 11-play, 61-yard drive finished with Buffalo unable to convert a 3rd-and-7 at the Jacksonville 9-yard line and having to settle for a field goal.

Buffalo 37, Jaguars 10 with 5:03 remaining in the third quarter.

  • Bengals stall out again in red zone

The Bengals are leaving some serious points on the board in the first half tonight. They just had to settle for another field goal from Evan McPherson after a quick drive that made it all the way to the Washington 13.

The Commanders lead now 21-13 with 42 seconds left in the half.

  • Touchdown, Jaguars

The Jaguars needed to score on their opening drive of the second half and did so, finishing off an eight-play, 70-yard drive with a six-yard TD pass from Trevor Lawrence to Brenton Strange.

Bills 34, Jaguars 10. Now Jacksonville needs to show it can stop Josh Allen and the Bills offense.

  • Jaguars stay alive on another 4th down

Needing to keep their first drive of the second half alive, Jacksonville converts a 4th-and-1 at the Buffalo 39-yard line with a two-yard run by Tank Bigsby.

The Jaguars have been moving the ball here, knowing they desperately need a score.

  • Jayden Daniels throws a dart to set up a TD

Jayden Daniels just delivered a beautiful 55-yard dart to Terry McLaurin to set up an eventual 4-yard touchdown run for the Commanders. What an incredible throw:

  • Trent Brown carted off

Bengals tackle Trent Brown was just carted off after his knee gave out while trying to prevent a sack midway through the second quarter. The replay on ABC didn’t look great at all.

  • A bad franchise record for the Jaguars

Buffalo’s 34 first-half points are the most the Jaguars have allowed in a first half in the team’s history, per ESPN.

  • Touchdown, Bills

Following an unnecessary roughness penalty, Josh Allen completes two consecutive passes. The second goes 16 yards as Allen rolls left and throws off his back foot for a Ty Johnson touchdown.

Bills 34, Jaguars 3 with 19 seconds remaining in the first half.

  • Jaguars help Bills out with targeting penalty

As if the Jaguars weren’t having enough problems, Daniel Thomas commits a 15-yard targeting penalty. Unnecessary roughness moves Buffalo to the Jacksonville 28-yard line.
