Ohio State head coach Ryan Day comments on offensive line after injury in Nebraska game

COLUMBUS — Ohio State head coach Ryan Day opted for a no comment, comment about the state of the Buckeyes’ offensive line. Zen Michalski has taken over at left tackle after Josh Simmons suffered a season-ending injury against Oregon on Oct. 12.

Michalski caught the injury bug as well on Saturday against Nebraska during the fourth quarter. He did not return and the reshuffling of the Buckeyes’ offensive line continued.

When he left the game, left guard Donovan Jackson kicked out to left tackle and sophomore Luke Montgomery came into the game as the left guard. The right side was no different with center Seth McLaughlin, right guard Tegra Tshabola and right tackle Josh Fryar.

Day was non-descript when talking about the status of the Buckeyes’ offensive line following their 21-17 win over the Cornhuskers.

“We’re going to have to talk about it [and] figure it out, Day said. “We knew that if that had happened in a game, that was our answer and solution to get out of the game. Now we’re going to have to go back and figure out what’s next.”

There was no clear comment from Day about Michalski regarding his status or what the injury was.

Offensive line coach Justin Frye will have his hands full yet again as the Nittany Lions boast an impressive defensive front. Injuries have been aplenty for Ohio State this season on the offensive line as well.

Jackson missed the first two games of the season and Austin Siereveld started in his place.

No. 4 Ohio State (6-1, 3-1 Big Ten) only put up 285 total yards against Nebraska — including a measly 64 rushing yards.

Ohio State will quickly forget its sixth win of the season as it has already started preparing for No. 3 Penn State. The Buckeyes will follow their normal practice schedule this week.
