On3 Impact Top 10 QBs see shakeup after Week 9

The 2024 college football season is rounding the bend into the final stretch. And plenty of quarterbacks have played admirably to date, from Heisman contenders to the leaders of undefeated squads — or both.

The latest On3 Impact Top 10 QBs feature a number that fit that description, and beyond. And the list is sure to move some more before the end of the season.

Check out the full Top 10 below.

Ward has been masterful this season, serving as the triggerman for a potent Miami attack. And his numbers back up the hype around him, as he’s currently 2nd in college football in passing yards, total yards, passing touchdowns, and total touchdowns accounted for.

As such, Ward is a Heisman contender and Miami has, so far, made it through the season without a loss. There simply isn’t another Power 4 quarterback that has produced to the level Ward has so far.

Sanders and Colorado have proved many of their critics and doubters wrong this year, rolling out to a 6-2 start and playing into contention in the Big 12. And much of that has to do with Sanders and his ability under center.

Sanders stacks up statistically as well as just about any quarterback in the country. He’s completing more than 73% of his passes while dropping back at a high volume. And his 21 passing touchdowns are third nationally.

Gabriel and the Ducks are currently the No. 1 team in the country, and the veteran transfer quarterback has fit in seamlessly to the Oregon offense. And the marriage has yielded some excellent on-field play from Gabriel.

He currently leads the nation in completion percentage, connecting on 76.2% of his passes. And he’s in the Top 10 for passing yards, yards per attempt (regular and adjusted) and is tied for 10th in passing touchdowns, with 18.

Outside of a nightmarish first half against Alabama and sluggish all around performance against Kentucky on offense, Georgia has looked the part of an SEC benchmark and national championship contender. And Beck, despite setting a slower pace than he was on last season, has been the presence the Bulldogs have needed.

The biggest problem so far has been ball security, as Beck has tossed a number of interceptions — eight in total. He’s not likely to lead the SEC in passing for a second-straight year, but a strong finish and putting the kibosh on the turnovers would be enough for Beck and Co. to get Georgia into the College Football Playoff and beyond.

Milroe and Alabama recaptured some dominant form that had been lacking, bulldozing Missouri to a 34-0 victory. And while his passing volume hasn’t been excessive, Milroe’s been effective when asked to drop back.

And his running ability has been a distinct weapon on display in 2024. He’s currently tied for No. 8 nationally with 12 rushing touchdowns.

Few quarterbacks in the country are a better pure thrower of the football than Nussmeier, who can access most areas of the field and has the ability to alter his delivery, driving passes that need zip and adding touch to ones that need feathering in. Much like Beck, though, his trouble has been turnovers.

Nussmeier has an SEC-leading nine interceptions — he also leads the conference with 20 passing touchdowns — as he’s been a high-volume drop back passer. There’s been enough good to outweigh the bad, but he’ll likely need to clean up the mistakes going forward.

Ewers and Co. bounced back from a loss to Georgia with a road win over a feisty Vanderbilt team. And the game was kept close as the Commodores scored a pair of touchdowns on short fields, both from Ewers interceptions.

However, those came on balls that were tipped at the line and head coach Steve Sarkisian was not concerned about them, going forward. And outside of those two bad bounces, Ewers was sharp, going 27-of-37 for 288 and three touchdowns, along with the interceptions.

The Ole Miss offense has been one of the most high-octane, high-producing units in the country so far this season. And Dart has been a big driver of that success.

Dart is third in the country in total yardage, completing more than 70% of passes all while having the highest yards per attempt, adjusted or otherwise.

Howard has stepped in and been a smooth operator of the Buckeyes’ offense. And playing with a star-studded array of pass catchers and running backs, Howard has thrived.

He’s completing 74% of his passes, good for No. 3 nationally, while pushing the ball downfield and accounting for 22 total touchdowns, 17 through the air. He’s also No. 2 nationally in passer efficiency rating.

Allar has looked to make good on his massive potential this season, thriving in a new-look Penn State offense. The only issue now is an injury that might keep him out against Ohio State.

But if he does play, Allar has shown he can elevate the Penn State offense this year. He’s completing 71.3% of his passes and posting Top 10 efficiency numbers, and the Nittany Lions remain undefeated.
