Qantas blasts R-rated movie to entire plane on Sydney to Tokyo flight

Qantas passengers were left horrified and blushing after an entire flight was forced to watch an R-rated movie — including children.

On a flight from Sydney to Tokyo, adults and children alike saw much more than they expected on their in-flight entertainment screens.

Due to technical difficulties, the entertainment system was not working properly on this flight, and customers could not select their movies.

After a one-hour delay, the pilot decided to take off, leaving the only option for entertainment as one movie selected by the crew shared across all screens.

The chosen film was Daddio — a raunchy drama starring Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn.

A Reddit user said it was impossible to “pause, dim, or turn it off”.

According to the post, the movie was “extremely inappropriate”.

“It featured graphic nudity and a lot of sexting — the kind where you could literally read the texts on screen without needing headphones. 😬.”

“It took almost an hour of this before they switched to a more kid-friendly movie, but it was super uncomfortable for everyone, especially with families and kids onboard,” the Reddit user wrote.

“How is this acceptable for a major airline? Has anyone else had something like this happen?”

Some Reddit users took a humorous approach to the situation.

“I believe this is the flight attendant version of ‘flipping over your desk and dramatically storming out’ on your last shift,” one user wrote.

Another commented: “I hope you like lounge passes.”

In Australia, only people aged over 18 can watch R-rated movies, despite the explicit film being broadcast across the plane.

Qantas told Daily Mail Australia they are now reviewing how the movie was selected.

“‘The movie was clearly not suitable to play for the whole flight and we sincerely apologise to customers for this experience,” the spokesperson said.
