A rail worker was lucky to escape serious injury after being trapped between two pieces of railway equipment while carrying out maintenance work on the Cork-Cobh/Midleton line last month.
The seriousness of the incident, which occurred on a section of railway track at North Esk between Kent Station in Cork and Little Island at 2:50am on September 10, 2024, resulted in the Railway Accident Investigation Unit issuing an urgent safety advice notice.
