A mother of two, who pleaded guilty to a charge of a “vicious, egregious and unprovoked assault” on a mother-of-eight has been jailed for three years at Roscommon Circuit Court.
In jailing 45-year-old Rebecca Rushe of Shannon Grove, Ballyleague, County Roscommon, Judge Kenneth Connolly said he was most surprised that the defendant was not charged with assault causing serious harm which would have given the court greater power to impose a longer sentence.
