Roy Keane points an accusing finger at Arsenal and comically reveals his ‘dream job’

Mohamed Salah scored in the 81st minute to rescue a point for Liverpool in a pulsating Premier League encounter between the title rivals.

Bukayo Saka, absent from Arsenal’s last two games with a hamstring injury, scored the opener after just nine minutes before Virgil van Dijk hauled Liverpool level.

Mikel Merino then restored his side’s lead only for Salah to convert Darwin Nunez’s cross to deny the home side a win.

The thrilling draw leaves Liverpool second, a point behind table-toppers Manchester City, with Arsenal third, now five points off the pace.

As usual, Keane didn’t hold back in his post match analysis on Sky Sports, as he suggested Arsenal’s eagerness to take a draw in a game that saw them lead twice suggests they might not have the killer instinct required to win this season’s Premier League title.

“I’m starting to worry about this Arsenal mentality now,” said Keane. “They’re 2-1 up, and I’m still looking and thinking, ‘Go on and try and win the game’.

“But there’s elements of Arsenal now, and it’s happened most of the season, when they get themselves in front – I don’t mind excuses about injuries or going down 10 men – they seem to just sit back in, like they’re settling for 2-1 or trying to get something on the set piece. Instead of going, ‘Go and get the third goal’.

“Liverpool were there for the taking, if they wanted to go for it. But it was almost, ‘Let’s hope we can win 2-1’. And when you’re up against good players like Salah, then they’re good enough to punish you, trust me.

“Today, they were 2-1 up, and they just stepped back. They were time wasting, they were trying to kill the game.

“If you’re the home team and you’re 2-1 up, use the initiative, use the fans behind you.

“I just worry about that belief, that mentality. Do they really have that belief and conviction that they’re a top team and they can really challenge Manchester City? I still don’t see it.

“They’ve made great progress, and it seems really critical, but you have to look at it comparing them to Man City and where they’ve got to in the last few years.”

Keane was in a devious mood during the half-time break in the Arsenal vs Liverpool game, as Sky Sports host David Jones urged his panellist to watch the new series The Day of the Jackal, starring Eddie Redmayne.

After showing a clip of Redmayne playing the role of an assassin, Keane has a smile on his face as he suggested he would watch the show.

“It looks good,” said Keane. “The dream job… an assassin!”
