A new leaked character for Honkai: Star Rail 2.7 may be the first of their kind, according to leaks highlighting the superficial aspects of their alleged gameplay kit. Version 2.7 is still a while away, as the turn-based RPG by HoYoverse is currently in the midst of Version 2.5. In addition to that, players will still have to go through the entirety of Version 2.6, a patch that is confirmed to introduce Rappa in Honkai: Star Rail. She will be a new 5-star Imaginary character following the Path of The Erudition and, as such, will be a multi-target DPS unit.
While attention is mostly focused on updates arriving soon, such as Version 2.6, there have been leaks about future patches and their respective playable characters. For months, there have been rumors about Sunday’s playable form following the events that took place in Penacony. In addition to that, there have also been multiple mentions of Tingyun’s return in Honkai: Star Rail as a 5-star character, though details are still blurry. Now, fresher leaks mention a new character with what may be an exclusive gameplay mechanic – and it may be related to one of these aforementioned leaked characters.

The Character Is Rumored To Be Imaginary & Harmony
New leaks from Team Mew mention that Version 2.7 will introduce a new character during Phase 1 banners who is Imaginary and Harmony. The leak, which was posted on Reddit, says that this Version 2.7 character will be capable of advancing allies’ Actions and storing overflowing Energy from their allies. This leak seems to be sustained by information from the leaker known as Ubatcha, which was also posted on Reddit, who also mentions an upcoming character capable of storing overflowing Energy from allies. The indications are that this character will be the playable version of Sunday in Honkai: Star Rail.
Sunday Could Be An Ultimate-Centered Character In Honkai: Star Rail 2.7
No Other Character Stores Allies’ Energy
It is uncertain exactly how this rumored version of Sunday will work in combat, but it seems like he will allow allies to overflow their Energy beyond the threshold, much like Harmony Trailblazer allows allies to deal Super Break DMG. The rumors that Sunday stores this overflowing Energy may be an indication that he is capable of grabbing that Energy for himself and then using it via his Ultimate ability. So far, no other character is capable of storing extra Energy from allies, and this would make Sunday the first of his kind in Honkai: Star Rail.
From an initial standpoint based on the leaks, it seems reasonable to believe that Sunday’s Energy absorption could be a way of accelerating his presence as a rumored Harmony support character on the field, as his Ultimate would be made available more easily via allies’ overflowing Energy. This could be combined with characters who have smaller Energy costs, allowing the overflowing Energy to kick in much more quickly than those with higher costs. It could also be an indication that Sunday, alone, has a very high Energy cost to balance that out.

Multiple New Units Have Been Rumored For Future Updates
Of course, this is simply speculation that the rumored overflowing Energy character and Sunday are the same. There are several other rumored characters that could, possibly, fit into the role of the leaked new character. Tingyun’s new form, for example, has been largely associated with Harmony, even if her 4-star version already follows that Path. There is an off chance that Tingyun could be the character with the overflowing Energy mechanic, though rumors point toward her being something of a damage dealer with Break DMG at the forefront of her gameplay mechanics in Honkai: Star Rail.
There have also been some mentions of an enigmatic character called Mr. Reca, who could fit into the role of the leaked Energy-storing character. However, the leaks about Mr. Reca, posted on Reddit, mention that he will not be released in Version 2.7. Other upcoming characters like Aglaea and Screwllum are expected to be DPS units involved in other gameplay mechanics, too, which is what makes Sunday the most likely candidate for the leaked Honkai: Star Rail 2.7 character.
The leaks are still too early to be believed entirely, but the information stemming from different sources does add some credibility to the claims.
