The Bengal Tiger LIVE Thread: LSU vs. Texas A&M

No. 8 LSU and No. 14 Texas A&M square off in Kyle Field on Saturday night in a game that will decide the outright leader of the expanded Southeastern Conference.

Both the Tigers and Aggies enter the weekend at 6-1 on the year and unbeaten in SEC play, and both teams have put together six-game win streaks after losing the season opener, with LSU losing to Southern Cal and Texas A&M losing to Notre Dame.

LSU is coming off an impressive 34-10 win at Arkansas, while Texas A&M got a 34-24 win over Mississippi State one week ago.

The Bengal Tiger LIVE Thread will be updated throughout the game with stats, video of all the touchdowns and points scored, analysis and more.

Will Chris Hilton make his season debut – while another WR sits?

After being listed as questionable on Wednesday’s SEC injury report, Hilton’s status remained the same on Thursday evening’s release – though LSU head coach Brian Kelly shed some positive light on the chances of Hilton making his 2024 appearance on Saturday, telling reporters Hilton practiced in a “full capacity” on Thursday.

“He’s made progress,” Kelly said. “This has been a slow process for us and him. You don’t bring a wide receiver back after this long out unless he’s properly conditioned because then you go pull a hamstring, right?”

“It’s not the leg anymore, and we’re not concerned, and he’s not concerned about the leg. This is much more about a conditioning element relative to soft tissue more than anything else. So, we’re in a pretty good position here now. This is just getting him game ready.”

The news on Hilton becomes more notable given wide receiver CJ Daniels was downgraded from probable on Wednesday to questionable on Thursday. Daniels missed LSU’s win over Ole Miss, but his return for the Arkansas game a week ago resulted in 10 targets, seven catches and 86 yards receiving.

Daniels, who transferred to LSU after putting up a huge season at Liberty in 2023 with 1,000-plus receiving yards and double-digit touchdowns, has logged the second-most snaps (351) among LSU’s wide receivers this season, trailing only Kyren Lacy (400).

The SEC’s final LSU vs. Texas A&M Injury Report

Beyond Hilton and Daniels, there are no major surprises to LSU’s injury report ahead of the Top 15 matchup with the Aggies.

LSU starting linebacker Greg Penn III, starting running back Caden Durham and starting guard Miles Frazier all remain probable to play on Saturday.

The most notable loss for Texas A&M is starting offensive lineman Chase Bisontis being listed as out for Saturday’s game against the Tigers.

The sophomore suffered a leg injury in the first half of Texas A&M’s win at Mississippi State a week ago, and he didn’t return to the game.

Bisontis, the team’s starting left guard, has played 411 snaps this season. Pro Football Focus (PFF) grades Bisontis out as the team’s best offensive lineman after he allowed just one sacked across Texas A&M’s 6-1 start this season.
