The Indo Daily: Kyran Durnin- What we know about the missing boy’s case

Kyran Durnin (8)

The case of missing child Kyran Durnin was last week upgraded to a murder investigation, prompting widespread shock – and posing more questions than answers. This morning, investigators began searching a property in Dundalk, Co Louth, as pressure mounts on gardaí and the State for answers into what happened to Kyran.

Eight-year-old Kyran was reported missing from his home in August. Investigating gardaí have now traced the last confirmed sighting of the young boy to when he was in senior infants – two years ago.

Speaking at a press conference today, Chief Superintendent Alan McGovern said the house and garden area of the property would be searched.

“The house is known to have been Kyran’s family home for a period of years up to May 2024,” said Chief Supt McGovern. “I must emphasise that the current tenants of this house are not connected in anyway with Kyran or his disappearance.”

As the investigation continues, there are questions to answer. How could a young child go missing without a trace?

Today on The Indo Daily, Fionnán Sheahan is joined by Irish Independent News Correspondent Conor Feehan, who is in Dundalk, and Catherine Fegan, Irish Independent Special Correspondent, to discuss what we know so far.
