Tickets remain unsold ahead of NRL Grand Final

NRL fans have been left feeling a wave of embarrassment after realising tickets are still available less than an hour before kick off in the 2024 Grand Final.

Fans took to social media on Sunday when they noticed that there were still many unsold tickets ahead of the grand final between Penrith Panthers and the Melbourne Storm at Accor Stadium in Sydney.

With kick-off set for 7.30pm, people thinking they’d missed out on securing a ticket could easily still nab one at 6.30pm on the official Ticketek website.

The cheapest ticket on sale for $199, while the higher price packages ranged from $289 to $409.

ABC Sport commentator Brett Sprigg wrote on X, formally Twitter, he couldn’t believe there were still tickets for sale.

“I’ve lived in Sydney a fair while and love rugby league but the AFL side of my brain cannot comprehend a grand final not being sold out,” he wrote.

Many other NRL fans also were surprised to learn the grand final was not sold out.

“Plenty of tickets still available for tonight’s NRL grand final. That’s embarrassing,” one said.

Another added that the price wasn’t the reason people weren’t going to the game.

“Price ain’t the reason, move the game away from Accor and you’ll see results,” he said.

The Sydny venue has a capacity of 83,500.

Meanwhile, Penrith fans gathered at their home turf at Panthers Rugby Leagues Club on Sunday.
