Watch: Former Oregon Ducks’ stars connect for a big gain for the Denver Broncos

Watch: Former Oregon Ducks’ stars connect for a big gain for the Denver Broncos

The Bo Nix to Troy Franklin connection is beginning to surface.

The rookie quarterback and rookie wide receiver connected on a big play when Nix completed a 30-yard pass to Franklin during the Denver Broncos’ 33-10 win against the New Orleans Saints on Thursday.

The pass completion pushed the Broncos down to the Saints’ 19. They eventually scored a touchdown on a 8-yard run by running back Javonte Williams for a 13-0 lead in the second quarter.

Nix’s pass to Franklin marks the second consecutive game the two rookies have produced a big play. Nix found Franklin on a touchdown pass during the Broncos’ 23-16 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6.

The 30-yard reception was the longest of Franklin’s NFL career as he begins to play a bigger role in the offense. He caught five passes on six targets for 50 yards, leading the Broncos in all three categories in the game. The production from the two former Oregon stars is what Broncos’ fans have been waiting for after the team selected Nix with a first-round pick (No. 12) and used a fourth-round pick (No. 102) to select Franklin in the 2024 NFL draft.
