A manhunt has been launched after a man attempted to abduct a baby girl from a train.
British Transport Police (BTP) has circulated images of a man officers believe ‘may have information’ about the alleged incident.
According to the force, the child’s mother was able to get the girl back, but the person believed to be responsible remains at large.
Here’s everything we know about the incident so far.
What do we know happened?
The mother and her child, who have not been identified by police, were travelling on the rail service to Worksop, in Nottinghamshire, at about 7.30pm on Saturday, August 17.
According to BTP, while the pair were preparing to get off the train, a stranger grabbed the youngster from its mother’s arms and “took off” down the carriage with her.
Fortunately, a relative was able to “grab the baby back”.
What happened to the suspected snatcher?
According to a statement released by BTP, the man later left the train at Barnsley.
Barnsley is about one hour by rail from Worksop, where the family had been preparing to leave the train, prior to the attempted abduction.
What we don’t know
British Transport Police has not said where the family affected is from or whether Worksop, where they were planning to get off the train, was their final destination.
We also do not know the exact age of the child and how many other people were travelling with her, besides her mother and another “relative”.
In addition, it is not clear what happened to the failed abductor after his attempt to snatch the child.
According to the force he left the train at Barnsley.
Barnsley is about an hour by rail away from Worksop, on a direct service, and would usually include a stop in Sheffield.

Officers have now released a CCTV image of a man they believe “may have information that could help their investigation”.
