Since its full launch in 2023, players have been all over Baldur’s Gate 3, with many swiftly completing the 100+ hour experience and eagerly awaiting what’s next. As Karlach’s story was left unfinished and Halsin’s barely told, many characters could still be deserving of having their tales expanded on in future updates.

Larian Studios Confirm No Future DLC For Baldur’s Gate 3
Larian Look To Steer Away From D&D Games
While Baldur’s Gate 3 has great potential for future DLC, particularly for beloved characters like Wyll and Karlach’s stories to be further enhanced, the Larian Studios team has confirmed they have no plans for future DLC or even a Baldur’s Gate 4.
Making this reveal officially a panel during the 2024 Game Developers Conference, it’s clear that despite its huge success and multiple Game Of The Year awards, it’s unlikely that Baldur’s Gate 3 will ever see many large new content additions. That isn’t to say that Larian is done with the game just yet, though.
No New Updates Doesn’t Mean The End Of BG3
Embarking on a new venture, Larian Studios recently launched its YouTube channel, Larian: Channel From Hell. As the team share with their fanbase an assortment of streams, shows, game updates, and behind the scenes content, the videos have delivered new aspects of Baldur’s Gate 3 that have never been seen before.
Giving players further insight and involvement of the process that made their favorite game may not be the same as new game content, but it’s a fun and unique way to keep fans close to the inner workings of Baldur’s Gate 3. This is also one of the places to anticipate news for any potential future progression or announcements, should something be in the works after all.
Some gorgeously immersive videos titled General Mocappery have showcased many of the game’s incredible mo-capped performances and actors, while other Ambience videos take players through the game’s soft natural sounds in specific locations. With plenty more to come, this channel feels like a defining point for the future of Baldur’s Gate 3. Through keeping the game relevant with continued snippets of its creations and other stunning details, players will have a lot to enjoy of what it already has to offer, even if Baldur’s Gate 3 never sees new DLC updates.
It’s safe to say that Baldur’s Gate 3 might still have a lot more to give. Steering away from paid DLC also keeps any new changes free for all players to experience, with Larian continually proving it cares greatly for the player’s experience. While the future of Baldur’s Gate 3 is still unknown for now, it’s clear fans will at least continue to get new insight into the immense behind-the-scenes details, as well as the potential for more updates and changes to come.
