Mother from Wicklow town gives her son a second chance of life by donating her kidney

A courageous mother-of-six from Co Wicklow, who donated a kidney to her eldest son, has been highlighting the life-changing impact organ donation can have on families to mark European Donation Day.
In June 2024, 59-year-old Christine Ryan from Wicklow town gave her son Stephen (32) the ultimate gift – a second chance at life – after he endured two and half years of dialysis treatments and related health challenges.
