Anthony Edwards has taken over as the player of discussion for the basketball world for obvious reasons. A huge reason behind Edwards’ success is his physicality. Yes, the Minnesota Timberwolves guard is also extremely skillful, but Ant’s athleticism is what differentiates him from the rest. While the 6ft4 combo guard rose to fame over the past two years, his college coaches were well aware of some of the unreal abilities that he possessed.
Since setting foot on an NBA court, Anthony Edwards has excited fans with some majestic dunks. However, earlier in the 2023-2024 season, the two-time All-Star caught everyone by surprise with his game-winning block against the Indiana Pacers. The highlight defensive play also had Ant baffled.

The Wolves youngster did claim to be in surprise after revealing to never jump as high before. Edwards almost had a similar reaction to that of the coaches at the University of Georgia when they witnessed him record a 42-inch jump vertical.
Back in 2019, Tom Crean revealed how Edwards’ athleticism was something that the Georgia Bulldogs program had never witnessed before.
“We vertical jump tested the other day, and with no training, he jumped 42 inches,” the head coach said, per Mike Griffith of Dawgnation.
“We do a bike sprint test at the end of a full workout — how quick can you get a half mile in on a stationary bike — and he gets it in 50 seconds,” Crean added. “Our strength coaches have never seen anything like it, and he never stands up, he sits on the bike, he’s so strong and powerful.”
Apart from his supreme athleticism, Edwards’ likable personality backed by his impressive on-court performance has analysts and enthusiasts confident about the fact that he could end up being the NBA’s future face of the league. If certain naysayers weren’t convinced, Ant could prove the same by leading the Minnesota side to an NBA Finals appearance this season.
