The Secretariat of Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Promotion reported the general control of 90 percent of the forest fire in the El Veladero National Park, as well as 80 percent of its liquidation process, with four heat points pending in the Roca areas de Oro, María de la O, Carabalí and Palma Sola.
The Secretary of Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection, Roberto Arroyo Matus, when participating in the coordination work, highlighted the support of the institutions of the three levels of government, which have remained day and night in combat work. to the fire during the last five days, with the purpose of completely liquidating the fire and to provide security to the families who live in the vicinity of the incident.
He highlighted that for this incident alone, more than 404 brigades from the three levels of government have been deployed in a coordinated manner, with the support of 2 helicopters equipped with Helibalde and 30 official vehicles.
He commented that the control and liquidation work is progressing, however, he said that, unfortunately, new heat sources have originated in other points of the El Veladero park, such as the one registered this Sunday in the upper part of the Palma Sola neighborhood, which generates more work and time to achieve its definitive extinction.
At the Incident Command Post, established in the Vicente Suárez Sports Unit, the official reported that this Sunday a new fire started in the vicinity of the El Coloso residential area, an incident where two people were arrested in flagrante delicto, who were referred to the corresponding authorities to hold them accountable.
Arroyo Matus asked for the support of citizens in general, so that they can contribute to the prevention of new forest and suburban fires, as well as alert the authorities so that they can act in a timely manner and reduce the risks and damages caused by this type of accidents.
