A busy road is set to be closed every night for more than four weeks.
Major resurfacing works have started on the A228 Snodland Bypass, between Ham Hill (Leybourne Lakes) roundabout and Peter’s Bridge roundabout.
The works started on Tuesday (May 7) and will last until Sunday June 9.
A team will be working between 9pm and 5am. Outside of these hours the road will be open as normal.
Kent County Council (KCC) says it will be removing the existing surface using a method called milling.
Manhole covers and rainwater gullies may be adjusted to the correct level before laying the new road.
A machine called a paver will lay the surface and then it will be compacted with a roller.
All road markings will also be repainted.
“During the resurfacing works, it may be noisy due to the machinery we are using,” a spokesperson added.
“You may also hear warning reversing sirens, along with flashing beacons.
“This is a health and safety requirement, and cannot be turned off, however, we will keep the disruptions to a minimum.”
A diversion route has been set up and will be via the M2 Junction 2, M2 Junction 3, A229 Blue Bell Hill, M20 Junction 6, M20 Junction 4, A228 and vice versa.
A separate route has been listed for drivers who cannot use the motorway.
This will be via Peters Bridge Road, New Court Road, Pilgrims Way, Rochester Road, Forstal Road, Station Road, Mill Hall Road, Bellingham Way, Leybourne Way, A228 and vice versa.

Parking restrictions are set to be in place at times to “keep the traffic flowing” and to allow drivers to turn around safely when they reach the closure.
Yellow cones will be placed along Rocfort Road and outside properties on Holborough Road.
KCC has confirmed access to homes and businesses may be affected.
It added: “Weather conditions or unforeseen problems may impact the delivery of these works.
“It is possible the dates may change.”
