“AI will be key to improving labor quality in transportation”: Samsara – El Financiero

Technology that improves and simplifies the experience and work quality of operators on board a truck will be key to reducing the driver deficit that transportation currently presents,” he assured. Sanjit Biswas, CEO and Co-Founder of Samsaraa pioneer company in the Connected Operations Cloud.

In an interview during his visit to our country, Sanjit Biswas pointed out that at this moment there are not enough drivers and no one wants to do that job.

“To solve this problem we offer in-depth recruitment and training to give drivers good experiences and effective tools; As for the challenges on the roads, we have GPS, high definition video with two-way communication; as well as the ability to integrate our solutions with those the carrier already has such as TMS, which means that there is better data available to them.”

He highlighted that, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Samsara solutions contribute to reducing paperwork, streamlining the administration and operation of fleets, as well as solving real problems that may arise when driving a vehicle such as: preventing accidents, providing assistance, saving fuel and improving the safety of operators on the road, which is why transporters in Mexico are interested in this technology.

“We have observed that our clients have had a 20 to 50 percent reduction in both accidents and costs. Since 2019, our most important strategy is to forge good relationships and partnerships with Mexican carriers. It seems like a great market to us, so we are bringing solutions to apply AI models according to each specific need,” emphasized Sanjit Biswas.

AI combats behavioral patterns

With five years currently operating in our country, Samsara has a portfolio of hundreds of transport companies, including Packetxpress company with a fleet of 3,500 units that operates with its technology and has contributed to reducing accidents, therefore, its drivers live and work safer on the road.

Another example of this occurred with the transporter Trayecto: they stated that One of its great challenges was to develop something with technology that could support detecting when an operator is driving very tired., since this fatigue represents danger for the operator and was a big problem. Thus, Samsara developed an Artificial Intelligence model to help detect drowsy driving and thus alert drivers in the event that they begin to stray from the road or when they show signs of drowsiness. This is a clear example of collaboration with your clients.

“Our clients in Mexico are leading the way in the transformation of physical operations throughout the region even for those who have operations in international trade and Our technology, although it is giving important results in large fleets, is also permeating to small and medium-sized transport companies that have the same needs.”said Sanjit Biswas, CEO and co-founder of Samsara.
