The vice-president of the Republic and minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, stated that it would be great if the tax reform changes were already implemented next year, but that it is better for it to be done in six years from now. that does not occur. âEverything that is difficult and complex, the path is gradualism,â he said. âItâs better to do it gradually than not at all,â he added.
The minister said he is an enthusiast of tax reform and highlighted that, among the innovations, it will bring increased transparency.
Alckmin stated that the current system is full of “invisible taxes”. “It will show how high the tax burden is in Brazil, it will show how high it is for our country’s level of development,” he said.
The vice-president argued that the reform will bring economic efficiency, and stated that in 15 years it could increase GDP by 12%, investment by 20%, exports by 12% and industry by 17%.
Alckmin participated in a seminar on tax reform promoted by the Federation of Industries of the State of SĂŁo Paulo (Fiesp).
