Rio – With an eye on their debut in Série A2 of the Carioca Championship, America will undergo a period of training at Granja Comary, the home of the Brazilian team. The delegation travels this Tuesday, the 7th, and only returns on Friday of next week.
“In these last ten days of training, America will do everything he can, he will give everything he can for us to really have a great championship and shine in our first game”, said Romário, the club’s president and player.
The second division of the State Championship will begin on May 18th (Saturday). The competition has 12 teams and will be played on the points system in a single round.
The four best teams advance to the knockout stage. The semifinal is held in round-trip games, as is the big decision. Only the champion moves up.
“When we found out (about the training period at Granja Comary), it was a thrill for everyone. We always followed the team, the reporters covering the team’s training at Granja. Being able to train there is really cool. We come back Friday before the game”, said Romarinho, America player and Romário’s son.
America’s debut on A2 will take place on May 18th. Mecão will face Petrópolis, at 3pm, at the Giulite Coutinho Stadium. The match is valid for the first round of the competition.
